Welcome to Mrs. Clayton's Kindergarten Class!!

My name is Ashley Clayton.  I have been teaching for 11 years.  I am currently beginning my 11th  year at Charleston Elementary teaching Kindergarten.  For many years Charleston School has been a major part of my life.  Growing up, I spent many days playing in the classrooms of this school.  My dad, a Charleston graduate, attended Charleston from 1st grade through 12th  grade.

After completing college, he returned back to Charleston to become a teacher and baseball coach for 26 years.  Several years later, I became a 2001 graduate of Charleston High School in the last graduating class.  I cherish every memory I have of this school.  My dream as a child was to teach Kindergarten at Charleston.  So I set out for my dream.  I attended Cleveland State for 2 years while playing on a basketball scholarship.  From there I attended Lee University where I earned my teaching degree.  After teaching a year at another school in Bradley County, I was hired to teach Kindergarten at Charleston.  My dreams came true!

In June of 2006, I married my best friend, Matt.  I am blessed with a wonderful husband.  Two years later we had our first bundle of joy, Turner.  Turner is eight years old and in the third grade.  In March of 2011, we welcomed our second child, a beautiful baby girl named Harper.  Harper is now 5 years old and starting Kindergarten.  They are our pride and joy, sent to us from above.   My husband, both parents, and I work in Bradley County Schools.  I also have one brother, Brandon.  He owns a baseball academy in Chattanooga called Turner Baseball Academy.  As you can see, family is very important to me, next to my relationship with God.  My husband and I attend First Baptist Church.  I have been blessed by Him every day, without Him I am nothing.  I also enjoy watching and playing sports.  I enjoy spending time with my husband and my precious babies.

I take great pride in my job.  My goal as a teacher is to prepare your child for their future, academically and socially.  My classroom is built around hands-on lessons and centers.  I am honored to have your child in my class!  I look forward to a wonderful year!
