I have a beautiful family that are a constant source of laughter and joy for me.  My husband, Chris, is the Plant Manager at Olin here in Charleston.  We have been married since July of 2000. My daughter, Katelyn, is in 8th grade at Ocoee Middle School, and my son, Jonathan, is a 5th grader at Michigan Avenue School with his neighborhood pals.

My husband and I both grew up in Connecticut and still have a lot of family and friends there.  We travel there every summer and winter break.  We also lived in Ohio for seven years when we were first married.  We have family and friends there as well, and try to get up there once a year to visit and relax.

Teaching is not only my profession, but my passion.  I love to teach at the upper grades, and truly believe this is what I am meant to do.

I love to share with other teachers, and I really enjoy presenting across the county.  I have often taken teams of students with me to share our Charleston leadership approach and train new teachers how to do student led conferencing.

When I am not at school, I spend my time mostly outside.  I am certainly not a master gardener, but I find nothing more relaxing than being in the dirt!  I also run, bike, and really love to spend time at the beach or hiking.

I am also a reader.  I read professional books, novels, poetry, nonfiction... anything!  My friends & family trade books with me all the time.  I love to talk about great books and share them with others.

I am SO excited to be teaching Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies this year.  My goal is for every Charleston 5th grader to experience the joy of reading and for all of my students to grow as readers and writers.  My students and I are going to work hard this year and they will be ready for middle school!
